Our Pastor, Fr. Nicholas Dassouras
About Fr. Nicholas Dassouras:
Fr. Nicholas Dassouras was born on 1967 in Athens, Greece. He graduated from the Superior Ecclesiastical School (Seminary) of Athens, Greece and the Theological School of the University of Thessaloniki, Greece; he continued, with a scholarship from the Comité Catholique pour la Collaboration Culturelle, his post-graduate studies, with specialization in Liturgy at the renowned Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, Italy where he received a Master’s Degree. He continued his doctoral studies, under the supervision of the distinguished professor Fr. Robert F. Taft, S.J. at the same Institute; he is currently preparing a doctoral thesis for the Theological School at the University of Athens and he frequented post-graduate classes at the Yale Divinity School in New Haven, CT. He speaks, other than his native Greek, English, French and Italian. He studied Byzantine music with Lycurgus Angelopoulos at the “Skalkotas” Conservatoire of Athens, Greece, and Paleography with Memo Tselikas at the Paleographical School of the Cultural Foundation of the National Bank of Greece. He tasted the monastic life for four years, as a novice, at the Holy Monastery of Simonos-Petra at the Holy Mountain-Athos, Greece under the spiritual direction of Elder Aimilianos, then Abbot of the Monastery. He was married and ordained Deacon and Presbyter in 1996 in Athens, Greece and at the same time he received the office of Protopresbyter and Spiritual Father. He is the father of four children and he is currently serving as Pastor of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Norwalk, CT.
